Meet Our Staff

Born in 1959 in Inglewood, CA Cary is the son of Jerry and Joyce Bichlmeier, founders of Bichlmeier Insurance Services. He attended Mira Costa High School in Manhattan Beach, CA and graduated from El Camino College. Cary J. Bichlmeier joined the agency in 1974 and became a principal in 1978. He started the Agency’s commercial department and sold it’s first Health insurance policy. In 1982 the United States Jaycees named Cary an Outstanding Young Man of America. The Certified Professional Insurance Agents Society in 1986 named Cary as a life member (CPIA designation). Cary became President of Bichlmeier Insurance services in 2004.

Cary has been married to Kathrine Bichlmeier since 1984 and they have three children and three grandchildren.

Hobbies include golf and he is a PADI certified diver.

Get to Know Jerry Bichlmeier, Chairman of the Board

G.J. “Jerry” Bichlmeier was born in 1939 in Los Angeles. He grew up with his 3 younger brothers working with his father in the family ice business. After leaving the University of Southern California in 1960, Jerry began a career in law enforcement. He proudly served on the Los Angeles Police Department for 25 years, retiring with honors in 1985. Along the way, he earned a teaching credential in Police Science. A short time after his start in government employment, he recognized a financial services need in the civil service community and so began his career in insurance services. Bichlmeier Insurance Services, Inc. began as a part-time home based business in 1961 dedicated to civil servants. Today as the chairman of the board and under the management of his two sons, it is a full service and multiline, personal auto and business insurance brokerage with a staff of 15 associates serving more than 5000 clients.

He has held long-term business management consulting agreements with National Car Rental (11 years) and Civil Service Employees Insurance Co. (13 years).

In addition to serving on the board of directors of Bichlmeier Insurance Services, Inc. (BIS), he has and does serve on the board of directors of the Los Angeles Police Federal Credit Union (1975 to present); Civil Service Employees Insurance Group (1985 to 1991); Civil Service Employees Agents Association (1991 to present).

Jerry is married and has 5 lovely children, three are involved with Bichlmeier Insurance Services.

His hobbies include golf, skiing, racquetball, and spoiling his 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchild.

Jerry says “As I get older and hopefully wiser, I realize how rich I have become- not so much from the material things I’ve acquired, but the family I have and the friends I’ve made along the way.

Joyce Bichlmeier was born in 1940 in Los Angeles, California and grew up there with her one sister. Joyce married had 3 children: Cary, Terry, and Sherrie. Cary and Terry are president and vice president of Bichlmeier Insurance Services, respectively.

In 1961, Joyce made her debut into the insurance industry and wrote all lines of insurance. In 1976 she then opened the Hermosa Beach office, and continued to be an outstanding community volunteer by serving as president or sitting on committees and/or boards of organizations such as the Professional Insurance Agents of California & Nevada, Chamber of commerce and the National Association of Insurance Women. Her hard work paid off, and Joyce received numerous awards including 1988 Chairman of the Year (Professional Insurance Agents of California and Nevada), 1982 Director of the Year (Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce) and 1982 South Bay Woman of the Year (YWCA).

Joyce is currently semi‐retired and lives in Redding, California, where she maintains a home office. She is married and has 12 wonderful grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Her favorite hobbies are traveling, gardening, and participating in her local Red Hat Society, the Rebellious Elegant Dames.

Joyce says: “I have appreciated growing with the business; it has been a wonderful life working with my family and extended family”.

Megan E. Brennan is the daughter of Cary and Kathy Bichlmeier, and granddaughter of Jerry and Joyce Bichlmeier, founders of Bichlmeier Insurance. She grew up in Hermosa Beach, CA and attended Mira Costa High School in Manhattan Beach and El Camino College.

Megan’s passions for office management comes from a love of personal interaction and organizational excellence. Before joining Bichlmeier Insurance in 2023, Megan spent 16 years in Hospitality & Customer Service Management in several mid-size to global corporations. Megan is currently pursuing her Professional in Human Resources certification (PHR), and her property & casualty license.

When Megan is not in the office, she enjoys spending time with her husband & four children going to Disneyland, and museums.

Ana was born in El Salvador and migrated to the US with her family when she was 7 years old. She grew up in beautiful Los Angeles, CA. After high school, Ana studied political science at CSUN. Although Los Angeles is near and dear to Ana’s heart, she continues to embrace her Salvadorian culture, she especially loves cooking and preparing her family’s traditional meals.

Ana is blessed to have her family close to her, she visits with her mother and father almost daily. She and her husband have one son, a daughter in law and a beautiful and very active granddaughter, all of whom she loves spending quality family time with.

Ana and her close-knit family are diehard Dodger fans as well as all things Disney and Star Wars. You may run in to her and her family in full costume at Disneyland the next time you are there!

Ana’s insurance career started in 2001. She takes pride in servicing her clients insurance needs. Problem solving to find the best insurance product is a trait that Ana excels at, and her clients love her for this! Ana is proud to have recently earned her Certified Insurance Service Representative designation, (CISR). With this designation and through continuing education, Ana keeps current on insurance trends to better serve her clients needs.

Rosa was born in West Los Angeles and raised in Marina Del Rey.  She graduated from Venice High School then attended West Los Angeles Community College to further her education.  

She has been licensed as an agent in the insurance industry since 2000. Rosa joined the Bichlmeier Insurance Agency in 2001. She works hard to meet her clients’ needs.  She enjoys assisting them in any way possible.  As a bilingual agent she also communicates with many of our Spanish speakers and takes special pride in helping the Hispanic community.  

Outside of serving Bichlmeier clients, Rosa spends her time in the South Bay area with her two daughters at soccer games and Girl Scout Events. On a personal level, she enjoys dancing and kickboxing.

Born December 1st, 1989 in Long Beach, Ca. Matt is the son of Cary and Kathy Bichlmeier, and grandson of Jerry and Joyce Bichlmeier, founders of Bichlmeier Insurance. He attended Mira Costa High School in Manhattan Beach and San Francisco State University. Matt graduated in 2013 with a Bachelor’s Degree in History. Matt joined the agency in 2014. He has worked as a Personal Lines Tech, Personal Lines Account Manager, Commercial Lines Sales Agent, and now holds the position of Commercial Lines Supervisor.

Interests: Dodgers, Lakers, hiking and great food.

Bevin was born and raised in Alexandria, Virginia until she relocated with her family to Palos Verdes, CA in 1998 where she attended Peninsula High. She then went on to study communications at San Diego State University.

Bevin became licensed in Property and Casualty and Life and Health insurance in 2011 and specializes in Large Business solutions, construction risk management, habitational/property, workers compensation and professional lines of business. Bevin has a client-centric, problem-solving focus and takes pride in staying up to date with current industry trends, identifying blind-spots and focusing her continuing education in the area of emerging risks such as Environmental, Cyber and IOT.

Bevin has been actively involved in her community throughout her time in the insurance Industry. She has worked directly with the Girl Scouts and carrier partners to help build the Angel Charity Place for Girls in Tucson, Arizona and participated in “Over the Edge” fundraising for 5 years. In her spare time, Bevin is an avid hiker, backpacker, outdoor-enthusiast and foodie but her favorite activity is running around after her rambunctious young son.

Bevin is currently pursuing her Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter designation (C.P.C.U) while raising her son. Bevin’s heart is at the beach where she spends as much time there with her family as possible.

Maria Ascencio was born on December 13th, 1964 in the Zacatecas region of Mexico. She attended school in Mexico.  She began working in the insurance industry as a customer service representative in 1993. Maria took insurance courses to further her career over the years.  In the year 2000 she joined Bichlmeier Insurance Agency’s personal lines department as the in house insurance specialist at the Los Angeles Police Federal Credit Union in Van Nuys, California.  As the in house insurance specialist, she provides a wide selection of insurance services to the members of the Los Angeles Police Federal Credit Union.

Maria and her husband of 29 years live in the San Fernando Valley. They have two daughters and two grandchildren. They enjoy being grandparents and spending quality time with their family. She enjoys traveling, singing, reading and gardening.   

Maria takes great pride and is honored to be a part of Bichlmeier Insurance and its mission in providing quality service to the members of the credit union.

Born and raised in Hermosa Beach, Jason is proud to call the South Bay his home. After attending Redondo Union High School he went on to earn a B.A. in economics at Cal State Long Beach.

A licensed insurance agent since 1996, Jason has worked at several local insurance agencies over the years. In 2009 he partnered with Re/Max Palos Verdes to start PV Peninsula Insurance Services, an insurance agency specifically designed to meet the needs of home buyers. In January 2011 PV Peninsula Insurance Services was acquired by Bichlmeier Insurance Services and Jason became a BIS team member continuing working with Re/Max.

An avid beachgoer, Jason considers himself lucky to live and work in this great community where his clients are also his neighbors.

Beth was born and raised on a small farm in rural Pennsylvania, where she loved her large family, learned an exceptional work ethic and enjoyed the great outdoors. She has one incredible son, Kevin, who is married to a wonderful nurse, Chelsee. Kevin and Chelsee have blessed Beth with 3 beautiful, smart and talented grandchildren: Aidan, Koltin and Alannah.

She began her insurance career in 2004 in Pennsylvania, and moved to Arizona in 2009. She spent a year in Mexico for a mission trip, where she learned un poco de Espanol. The people were lovely, the weather was perfect and the food was fantastic!

Back in the US, she continues her career with a real passion for helping people. She is a seasoned professional with extensive knowledge and dedication. Her insurance expertise, combined with her invaluable experience in the commercial industry has helped her to navigate the complex landscape of risk management, consistently delivering tailored solutions to meet the diverse needs of her clients. She specializes in understanding and managing risks that her clients face, from property damage to liability exposures.

Known for her cheery and friendly approach, she takes the time to listen to her clients’ concerns and explain their options in plain language. Whether it’s a startup small business or a large corporation, Beth is dedicated to finding the best insurance solutions for each and every client.
