Get to Know Jerry Bichlmeier, Chairman of the Board
G.J. “Jerry” Bichlmeier was born in 1939 in Los Angeles. He grew up with his 3 younger brothers working with his father in the family ice business. After leaving the University of Southern California in 1960, Jerry began a career in law enforcement. He proudly served on the Los Angeles Police Department for 25 years, retiring with honors in 1985. Along the way, he earned a teaching credential in Police Science. A short time after his start in government employment, he recognized a financial services need in the civil service community and so began his career in insurance services. Bichlmeier Insurance Services, Inc. began as a part-time home based business in 1961 dedicated to civil servants. Today as the chairman of the board and under the management of his two sons, it is a full service and multiline, personal auto and business insurance brokerage with a staff of 15 associates serving more than 5000 clients.
He has held long-term business management consulting agreements with National Car Rental (11 years) and Civil Service Employees Insurance Co. (13 years).
In addition to serving on the board of directors of Bichlmeier Insurance Services, Inc. (BIS), he has and does serve on the board of directors of the Los Angeles Police Federal Credit Union (1975 to present); Civil Service Employees Insurance Group (1985 to 1991); Civil Service Employees Agents Association (1991 to present).
Jerry is married and has 5 lovely children, three are involved with Bichlmeier Insurance Services.
His hobbies include golf, skiing, racquetball, and spoiling his 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchild.
Jerry says “As I get older and hopefully wiser, I realize how rich I have become- not so much from the material things I’ve acquired, but the family I have and the friends I’ve made along the way.
