Cary J. Bichlmeier
Born September 21, 1959 in Inglewood, CA Cary is the son of Jerry and Joyce Bichlmeier, founders of Bichlmeier Insurance Services. He attended Mira Costa High School in Manhattan Beach, CA and graduated from El Camino College. Cary J. Bichlmeier joined the agency in 1974 and became a principal in 1978. He started the Agency’s commercial department and sold it’s first Health insurance policy. In 1982 the United States Jaycees named Cary an Outstanding Young Man of America. The Certified Professional Insurance Agents Society in 1986 named Cary as a life member (CPIA designation). Cary became President of Bichlmeier Insurance services in 2004.

Get to Know Jerry Bichlmeier, Chairman of the Board
G.J. “Jerry” Bichlmeier was born on March 6th, 1939 in Los Angeles. He grew up with his 3 younger brothers working with his father in the family ice business. After leaving the University of Southern California in 1960, Jerry began a career in law enforcement. He proudly served on the Los Angeles Police Department for 25 years, retiring with honors in 1985. Along the way, he earned a teaching credential in Police Science. A short time after his start in government employment, he recognized a financial services need in the civil service community and so began his career in insurance services. Bichlmeier Insurance Services, Inc. began as a part-time home based business in 1961 dedicated to civil servants. Today as the chairman of the board and under the management of his two sons, it is a full service and multiline, personal auto and business insurance brokerage with a staff of 15 associates serving more than 5000 clients.
He has held long-term business management consulting agreements with National Car Rental (11 years) and Civil Service Employees Insurance Co. (13 years).
In addition to serving on the board of directors of Bichlmeier Insurance Services, Inc. (BIS), he has and does serve on the board of directors of the Los Angeles Police Federal Credit Union (1975 to present); Civil Service Employees Insurance Group (1985 to 1991); Civil Service Employees Agents Association (1991 to present).
Jerry is married and has 5 lovely children, three are involved with Bichlmeier Insurance Services.
His hobbies include golf, skiing, racquetball, and spoiling his 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchild.
Jerry says “As I get older and hopefully wiser, I realize how rich I have become- not so much from the material things I’ve acquired, but the family I have and the friends I’ve made along the way.
Joyce A. Bichlmeier

Joyce Bichlmeier was born in 1940 in Los Angeles, California and grew up there with her one sister. Joyce married had 3 children: Cary, Terry, and Sherrie. Cary and Terry are president and vice president of Bichlmeier Insurance Services, respectively.
In 1961, Joyce made her debut into the insurance industry and wrote all lines of insurance. In 1976 she then opened the Hermosa Beach office, and continued to be an outstanding community volunteer by serving as president or sitting on committees and/or boards of organizations such as the Professional Insurance Agents of California & Nevada, Chamber of commerce and the National Association of Insurance Women. Her hard work paid off, and Joyce received numerous awards including 1988 Chairman of the Year (Professional Insurance Agents of California and Nevada), 1982 Director of the Year (Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce) and 1982 South Bay Woman of the Year (YWCA).
Joyce is currently semi‐retired and lives in Redding, California, where she maintains a home office. She is married and has 12 wonderful grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Her favorite hobbies are traveling, gardening, and participating in her local Red Hat Society, the Rebellious Elegant Dames.
Joyce says: “I have appreciated growing with the business; it has been a wonderful life working with my family and extended family”.
Anna Sanguinet was born on August 1st, 1947 in Los Angeles California and grew up in the San Gabriel Valley. She graduated from Bishop Amat Memorial High School and attended Pasadena City College as a language major. She started her career in the insurance business in 1976 at California Casualty. While at California Casualty she took insurance courses to further her career. In 1978 she moved on to agency work and relocated to Manhattan Beach. She worked at AIS for 15 years and in 1998 joined the Bichlmeier Agency’s personal lines department. In 2004 she was made Office Manager when the agency moved its home office from Hermosa Beach to its present location in Redondo Beach. Her main focus is to provide the support and maintain the tools needed by staff to enable them to quickly and efficiently service those who matter most, our clients.
Anna and her husband of 37 years live in Rancho Palos Verdes. They have a blended family of 5 children, 8 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. They enjoy traveling to visit family on both coasts. Anna loves to read, do needlework projects and gardening. She enjoys swimming and evening walks with her husband after a busy day at the office.
Anna’s philosophy in life is: Meet each challenge the new day brings, using all of your talents so that at the end of the day you can say: I did my best.

Rachel was born on June 5, 1978 in Delano, CA. She graduated from Nathaniel Narbonne High School in Harbor City, CA.
Rachel started her career in insurance in 1995 while attending high school. She obtained her Property & Casualty License in 1996 and Life and Health License in 2007. She earned her first insurance designation, Commercial Lines Coverage Specialist (CLCS) in 6/2009 and her second designation, Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR) in 8/2009. Rachel is currently working toward her third designation. She has been a member of the South Bay Chapter of NAIW since 1/2012.
Rachel is married and has two children. Her hobbies include reading, shopping and couponing.
Rachel is a firm believer that with a little planning and a lot of hard work anything is possible.

Rosa was born in West Los Angeles and raised in Marina Del Rey. She graduated from Venice High School then attended West Los Angeles Community College to further her education.
She has been licensed as an agent in the insurance industry since 2000. Rosa joined the Bichlmeier Insurance Agency in 2001. She works hard to meet her clients’ needs. She enjoys assisting them in any way possible. As a bilingual agent she also communicates with many of our Spanish speakers and takes special pride in helping the Hispanic community.
Outside of serving Bichlmeier clients, Rosa spends her time in the South Bay area with her two daughters at soccer games and Girl Scout Events. On a personal level, she enjoys dancing and kickboxing.

Ivan was born in Bellflower, CA in 1978. He graduated from Hi-Tech Institute in Phoenix, AZ with an associated degree in Drafting Technology and Business Systems. Ivan has worked in the insurance industry for 17 years and has held a Property and Casualty license for the past 14 years.
Ivan is working on getting insurance designations and a life insurance license. He enjoys working with people and helping clients out with their insurance needs. He is very eager and always ready for a challenge.
After hours, Ivan spends most of his time training in Mixed Martial Arts and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He loves to train the gentle art and also helps out with coaching it at his academy in Bellflower. He loves spending time with his family and friends.

Joanne grew up in Beautiful Southern California. While serving 5 years in the United States Air Force, stationed in Germany and Turkey, Joanne was awarded the Air Force Meritorious Service Award Medal and the Air Force Commendation Medal for her services as a Digital Subscriber Terminal Equipment and Cryptographic Maintenance Technician.
Joanne moved to Las Vegas, NV, where she obtained her Property and Casualty Insurance license in 1990. Joanne continued her education by completing The Insurance Institute of America in 1992, earned the Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR) designation in 1993 and the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation in 1999. All of which she maintains through annual continuing education courses.
Because of her love for the beach, Joanne returned to Southern California where she now holds the position of Customer Service Agent for Bichlmeier Insurance Services, Inc. In addition, Joanne is proud to serve as the current Treasurer for the South Bay Association of Insurance Professionals.

Maria Ascencio was born on December 13th, 1964 in the Zacatecas region of Mexico. She attended school in Mexico. She began working in the insurance industry as a customer service representative in 1993. Maria took insurance courses to further her career over the years. In the year 2000 she joined Bichlmeier Insurance Agency’s personal lines department as the in house insurance specialist at the Los Angeles Police Federal Credit Union in Van Nuys, California. As the in house insurance specialist, she provides a wide selection of insurance services to the members of the Los Angeles Police Federal Credit Union.
Maria and her husband of 29 years live in the San Fernando Valley. They have two daughters and two grandchildren. They enjoy being grandparents and spending quality time with their family. She enjoys traveling, singing, reading and gardening.
Maria takes great pride and is honored to be a part of Bichlmeier Insurance and its mission in providing quality service to the members of the credit union.
Jason P. Laing
Born and raised in Hermosa Beach, Jason is proud to call the South Bay his home. After attending Redondo Union High School he went on to earn a B.A. in economics at Cal State Long Beach.
A licensed insurance agent since 1996, Jason has worked at several local insurance agencies over the years. In 2009 he partnered with Re/Max Palos Verdes to start PV Peninsula Insurance Services, an insurance agency specifically designed to meet the needs of home buyers. In January 2011 PV Peninsula Insurance Services was acquired by Bichlmeier Insurance Services and Jason became a BIS team member continuing working with Re/Max.
An avid beachgoer, Jason considers himself lucky to live and work in this great community where his clients are also his neighbors.
Bill was born and grew up in South Dakota. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of South Dakota. He then founded and operated a Security Company in Arizona that specialized in electronic protection. After five years he relocated to California where he got married and went to work for a major alarm company in Los Angeles.
He became a licensed insurance agent in 1999 and went to work for the Torrance office of the Automobile Club of Southern California (AAA) before joining Bichlmeier Insurance Services in Redondo Beach in 2008. He loves to work with and help people so being an insurance agent is a great fit.
Bill was blessed with two daughters and he decided to spend as much time with them as possible. He became involved with the Torrance YMCA father/daughter program and the Region 15 AYSO Soccer program where he coached and refereed for many years. He loves to golf and spend as much time with his wife and daughters as possible.
